Eelbrook (Fulham)

• It started off badly when we tried to phone Eelbrook to find out what was on their menu
• In particular whether the lobster roll advertised on their website was available it was not
• The menu on the site is only a sample although this is not stated
• Rocket and aioli sourdough baguette with added cheese and my companion the smoked salmon and polenta roll
• My baguette was in fact a quarter of a baguette and quickly disappeared after 4 bites thank goodness I'd asked for the cheese even though I'd paid a pound for the privilege
• The smoked salmon was fatty and low quality which is a surprise given the meagre portion costing £
• All in all with water and service this came to £
• Offering both a mixture of British and Mediterranean dishes and also equipped with a heated terrace
• Brunch it had a limited selection on the menu however the Baked Tilley eggs were sensational and perfectly paired with a spicy bloody mary
• Tentative and even told me how long my order was going to take now that is the type of service I am looking
• I had rather hoped it was named after some curious 18th Century jellied eel tradition but unfortunately not
• I made plans to go with an old University friend on a rainy Thursday evening but regretted it as soon as my bus expired about halfway down the Kings Road
• My heart began to sink at the memory of expensive nights out with the red trouser brigade which often ended in a paramedic&rsquo
• The intimate venue is designed by Haruo Morishima who did Hakkasan Las Vegas
• This British Mediterranean food is so delectable that it will erode your sense of decency
