Gandolfi Fish (Merchant City)

• This improved slightly when we were seated at a nice
• In the end we both decided on the pre theatre menu as it was a Thursday and we should be at home eating beans whilst saving for the holiday but we are just no good at it
• I know that this is why restaurants probably do it in the first place but
• The soup of the day was cauliflower &
• First of all I noticed that it was really smooth so that appealed to me as I like a blitzed soup
• The other starter that we chose was the smoked mackarel pate with salad and toast
• I like mackerel but the bones are a pain so this makes things much easier
• Not because the other options were sounding duff but just because we enjoy a well made fish pie &
• I enquired about what is in the pie because I don&rsquo
• Prawn and scallops so there was going to be more than enough to keep me going
• It was in a creamy sauce and topped with a buttery mash top that had Parmesan cheese melted on top
• We rounded the meal off with a tawny port (me) and a cognac (him) then jumped in a taxi from the handy rank outside
• Resisting nipping up to Bar Gandolfi upstairs was difficult but we managed it this time
• We were extremely impressed with all the food on offer
• Everyone was very happy with their meals
• I tried some of the scallop and black pudding starter and it was really outstanding I highly recommend it
• The salmon Wellington was especially great
• Waiting staff were very helpful and patient when we took a bit long to decide
• We went to Gandolfi Fish on the recommendation of some locals we were working with
• It was a great suggestion as it was quality food
• The Fish and Chips (haddock) were the best I've ever had
