  • As part of the restaurant festival they are offering Beef &

  • Seated down the back we were then pretty much left to our own devices for quite some time

  • Our orders were eventually taken and prosecco showed up not long after

  • Steaks and (the 3) prawns were all cooked perfectly

  • The chunky potatoes were more wedges rather than chips

  • Service and ambiance were fairly middle of the road

  • The other day me and some girlfriends were looking for a place to have a nice drink and perhaps a quick bite and fell upon Rick's (New Town) which we liked immediately since it reminded us of Casablanca

  • The ambiance was very nice felt grown up and yet 'hip' all at the same town

  • While they asked for small glasses and were offered large ones

  • This was the first time I got to attend one of these events and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to meet other bloggers who were just as excited about food as I am

  • S recently launched a new menu and we were invited to see it showcased

  • S and what they offer (as it is not just a restaurant and bar but a boutique hotel)

  • The atmosphere is chic yet comfortable

  • S has launched a new menu couple weeks ago so we were invited to have a Zomato meetup there and hear more about how the menu was put together by the executive chef Jon Wood

  • We were then seated at our table and were offered some wine

  • Chef Jon then came and talked about different dishes on the menu and why are they on it

  • I decided to go for a duck salad with honey mustard dressing for a starter

  • A main course I went for the lamb with goats cheese gnocchi

  • One of the best cooked lambs I&rsquo

  • The gnocchi came in form of slid potatoes filled with a bit of goats cheese

  • The fondue came with a large selection of fruits and sweeties

  • Some of my fellow foodies decided to go for salted caramel and chocolate tart with vanilla ice cream which I tried and was also delicious but very filling

  • Towards the end of the night we were offered Rick&rsquo

  • S special cocktail with Aperol which is aged for several months in the bottle to develop flavour

  • The service was very friendly throughout the whole night and the atmosphere was very relaxed

  • Edinburgh spoils us with the quality and sheer quantity of restaurants in the city

  • Too often good food is accredited to only the highest end of the spectrum

  • I was invited to dine with Rick's as part of the launch of their new menu

  • This isn't the best food in Edinburgh

  • It's an admirable honesty which is too often lost in the war for customers

  • If the consistency in the kitchen remains the same then this is a rare deal

  • My starter was a goat's cheese

  • There is a lot going on on that small plate and the result was that some aspects of the dish where quite lost

  • Main course was pig on a plate

  • The meat was cooked adequately enough and the apple stroked the potato with a fresh delicacy

  • Finally dessert and a salted caramel chocolate tart and I was pleased to see not a pea shoot garnish but mint

  • I ate as much as I could with the accompanying ice cream and not a bite more

  • At times rather hard dessert on a slate (Yes it was very pretty) with no sides

  • Give me two pieces of cutlery with which I can brace against

  • The cocktail list is adventurous for an otherwise standard bar

  • Chicken and oh so rich chocolate and caramel tart were all mouthwateringly delicious

  • Having spent ages in the rain deciding were to go we stumbled upon Ricks Hotel

  • Having walked in we straight away though we were under dressed

  • I had the Orkeny burger with extra cheese and it was absolutely delicious

  • One of the best burgers I've ever eaten

  • I also had the El Matador cocktail which was perfectly balanced

  • Dessert I had the salted caramel chocolate tart which was so decadent and rich

  • The staff were also very friendly and seemed to have a good rapport with each other which is important

  • Atmosphere was just right as well

  • Didn't go crazy so just had a rib eye but was just enough and good experience again
