What people say about Brasserie De Luxe - Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh - The Caledonian (New Town)
-
Elegant bar with copper fittings
-
The wine list is interesting and varied and the service is attentive and friendly
-
Both dishes were delightful
-
The rillettes were moist and flavourful
-
With a good amount of the herb that I think goes best with salmon
-
It was served with a thin sliver of rye bread and a tart and garlicky crè
-
The traditional British roast beef lunch was popular and the Yorkshire puddings were puffy and huge
-
I had sea trout with saffron braised squid
-
I really enjoyed my taste of the gnocchi and they worked very well with the earthy flavour of the artichoke and kale
-
Bathed in sunshine where they were set up against the window next to the entrance
-
The tunes they played were up beat and not too challenging to my untrained ear
-
Palate tickling flavour and a distinct scent of wax and that slight hint of ammonia you get with a very mature cheese
-
A firm but light meringue tasted almost salty on its own which was perfect with the the sweet
-
All the better for making you feel that you are transported away from an unusually sunny Edinburgh
-
The chicken was beautifully moist and served on a mixture lettuce
-
Ve not mentioned the wines that were chosen to accompany our meal
-
We discovered Picpoul de Pinet Domaine Felines Jourdan 2012 with the Bouillabaisse
-
Moulin Gimie 2012 with the chicken &ndash
-
Domaine des Forges 2009 with the Savarin
-
I knew this was a safe bet for great food
-
I went for steak tartare maison followed by lemon sole with a side of Chantenay carrots
-
Bread was brought to the table which was tasty and the butter soft enough to spread
-
A waiter noticed this and discretely took the napkin and replaced it with a fresh one
-
I knew I would be happy with the steak tartare as I have had it here before and it didn&rsquo
-
I still maintain that this is the best tartare I&rsquo
-
The crab tagliatelle was being enjoyed
-
She said that there was a gentle level of aniseed running through the dish
-
I had been advised by the waitress upon ordering that the lemon sole was served on the bone
-
The side of carrots were lovely and buttery but were perhaps too much for me to eat on my own
-
The side of fries was quite large for one but she had a good go at demolishing them
-
Our intention was to also have dessert
-
On my first visit to Galvin Brasserie de Luxe I was not disappointed at all
-
We had a deal for Steak with Frites and
-
I had some lovely salmon to start and my friend had a yummy dish of aubergines and other veggies that was cooked to perfection and tasted like heaven
-
Although we were already full
-
A Sunday roast is something I don&rsquo
-
It now scrubs up very well with its elegant French brassiere inspired decor
-
The oysters were among the best I have ever eaten
-
Despite being dry aged and medium rare it was over tough
-
Stunning room with impeccable service
-
Wine will always be the one that automatically is paired with food
-
Beer is making a stand and is proving its versatility and compatibility across the foodie spectrum
-
The Yorkshire pudding was huge and so tasty lovely and crisp
-
Puddings were also fantastic and the pot of tea we ordered was just the right thing to drink at the end of our meal
